Korean cultural programs will be presented on July 23 and 24 at the Valley of Arts in Kapolcs, organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary. The Valley of Arts is Hungary's largest all-arts and multi-genre festival, offering more than 2,000 programs over 10 days across three beautiful villages in the Balaton-Felvidék region: Kapolcs, Taliándörögd, and Vigántpetend.
On July 24, from 12:00 to 13:00, a special cooking demonstration will be held by Chef Taeyeon Kim, Founder and Director of the Kimchi Institute. The session will explore Korea’s Jang culture, recently recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Chef Kim will demonstrate how to make Bibim Guksu (spicy mixed noodles) using Gochujang made with Hungarian paprika. The cooking demonstration will be followed by a Hungarian wine pairing, highlighting the fascinating parallels between Jang fermentation and wine aging.
At 16:30, a Korean dance and music performance will take place featuring geomungo player Hyun Jei Buen and Korean dancer Siyeon Lee. This performance offers a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary Korean music and dance. Korean music and dance will also be presented by Hungarian groups: the Mindeulle Gayageum Ensemble and the Nawoul Dance Group.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to try Korean calligraphy, guided by the Munbangsau Calligraphy Team. Calligraphy sessions will be available on July 23 from 13:00 to 18:00 and on July 24 from 11:00 to 18:00 at the main square of Kapolcs.
