Traditional Show "Han: Korean Sentiment"
Korea Week Bari 2022

 

The Korean Cultural Center in collaboration with the Puglia Region and the Municipality of Bari brought to the Kursaal Santalucia Theater in Bari for the evenings of 21 and 22 May during the Korea Week Bari 2022 the traditional Korean music and dance show "Han: Korean sentiment ".

 

 

For the occasion, the KCC invited 3 Korean artists (An Jae Hyun - Danza, Kim Hae Lim - Daegeum, Park Myunghyun - Janggu and Buk) of the highest level in activity in Europe.

The program included traditional Salpuri dance revisited in a modern key, performances by Daegeum, Danza su Sanjo by Daegeum, Seonban Seol Janggu and Jindo Bukchum to present Korean Culture to the local public through traditional music and dance, achieving great success.

 

At the premiere on May 21, all 270 available seats were filled, while for the show on May 22, by providing the same number of public visitors, it was possible to create additional seats, reaching the capacity of 300 seats in the hall, with the same sold-out result.

During the two days of shows, H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Lee Seong-ho, the Director of the Korean Cultural Center Chun Ye Jin, the Ambassador of Puglia in the World Nancy dell'Olio, the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Bari Ines Pierucci, the Councilor to Sport of the Municipality of Bari Pietro Petruzzelli and members of the Mayor's Cabinet such as Vitandrea Marzano.

The public from Bari was enthusiastic about the show, leaving various positive opinions. Elisa G. and Paola P. mother and daughter approached Korean Culture for the first time through this show and said they were enthusiastic saying they wanted to learn more about the Daegeum, the traditional Korean flute. Vincenza G. was instead struck and very fascinated by the energy transmitted by Jindo Bukchun and Janggu and she declared that she too wanted to participate in all the other events scheduled for Korea Week Bari 2022.

The Korean Cultural Center organizes events on Korean Culture every year in large Italian cities and is working to try to bring a Korean show to Bari again next year.
