"Seoul Blue"
Modern Dance and Traditional Music Show
On 6 and 7 July in Milan at the No'hma Theater and on 8 July in Rome at the Korean Cultural Institute the dance show "Seoul Blue" was held, conceived by choreographer Cho Yong Min. The show is part of the program of shows offered by the Korean Cultural Institute which is committed to promoting the art of Korean shows in Italy through face-to-face initiatives also supported by online activities.
On 6 and 7 July at 9 pm, respectively 325 and 340 people attended the show at the No'hma Theater in Milan for a total of about 1000 people, including the viewers of the streaming.
Unfortunately, due to problems related to air transport that led to the loss of some scenographic components, the Milan premiere was staged with incomplete scenography, but thanks to the timely intervention of the Korean Cultural Institutes in Italy and the United Kingdom it was resolved for the second in Milan and the show in Rome.
The show in Rome recorded the presence of 80 people (maximum possible capacity at the moment) with the seats all sold out in the middle of the day when online bookings opened. In addition, the show was also visible online in live streaming.
All the spectators present both in Milan and Rome were enthusiastic about the show so much that some people wanted to go to Korea in order to learn more about Korean Culture. The spectators were also positively impressed by the emotion transmitted by the sounds of traditional Korean instruments and by the delicacy of the Hanbok, that is the traditional Korean clothes.
The "Seoul Blue" show interprets traditional Korean music and dance in a modern key, seeking the synergistic link between East and West.
The Director of the Korean Cultural Institute Chun Ye Jin commented saying "I was really happy to have been able to present to the Italian public through this show the beauty of Korean tradition in harmony with Western modern arts". In addition, the choreographer Cho Yong Min said "This tour is an opportunity to present our art under a different interpretation".
