Events at KCCs abroad

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia and the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia (Director Kim Yong Woon), in collaboration with the National Gugak Center and the National Museum of Indonesia on 23 September held an exhibition opening ceremony entitled 'K-Maestro' at the National Museum of Indonesia.

After its first exhibition in Korea in 2021, K-Maestro chose Indonesia as the first country to start its foreign exhibitions. This exhibition presents two artwork spaces with the theme of traditional Korean music, Pansori and Sanjo.

The 'Hwayeon (banquet)' room is a room with the theme of Pansori music combined with the beauty of traditional knot crafts. This space depicts the lives of ordinary people by displaying elements of humor and satire. The various lives in the stories that are conveyed are expressed by thousands of flower knots that are woven and unraveled in various forms.

Next is the 'Padong (wave)' room with the theme of Sanjo music filled with traditional crafts made of fabric and metal. This space depicts the beauty of difference, balance in imbalance, beauty of asymmetry and atypical, boundaries and harmony between order and disorder.

At the opening ceremony, artists from the National Gugak Center attended and presented live performances of Pansori and Sanjo music in each room. The exhibition with the concept of combining intangible art with tangible art is scheduled to last until 26 October 2022 at the National Museum of Indonesia.

This exhibition is expected to be a good opportunity to introduce the values and styles of traditional Korean tangible and intangible arts to the Indonesian people as interest in Hallyu grows around the world.
