Between 14 and 21 October, the Korean Cultural Center presented 38 films at the 15th Korean Film Festival. Total 4685 people attended the screenings in Budapest and in Debrecen.
Featuring the latest Korean films, the ‘Fresh’ section of the Festival focused on the emerging trends of Korean film. Showcasing one of Korea’s most high-impact filmmakers, the ‘Faces’ section provides audiences with a comprehensive picture of each featured creator. In 2022, the focus was on the work of director Byun Young-joo, who was available for a live meet-and-greet. This year, Focus ‘section’ was a selection of films that brought extraordinary life-situations to the screen. In the Extra section, the audience could watch short films and animations, and in the Bonus section, the focus was on self-awareness and life-changing encounters. The Festival presented CineTalk with director Byun Young-joo and Street music event with Korean singer-songwriter SUNGJOON. A K-Pop Contest inspired by the movie “Song Hae 1927” took place at the last weekend of October in the Korean Cultural Center.
The audience award was presented to the favorite film of the Hungarian viewers, this year the winner was ‘Escape from Mogadishu’.
