Events at KCCs abroad

The embassy of the republic of Korea and The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, hosted '2022 Korea-Thailand Cooperation for Strengthening Soft power Seminar' on 8th December at 9:30 AM at Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit.



The seminar begins with a congratulatory speech by The Korean Ambassador to Thailand, Moon Seung-hyun and a video congratulatory speech by Thailand's Minister of Culture, ItthipholKhunpluem. H.E. Mr. Moon said in his opening remarks, while the attention to the soft power increase in Thailand, the embassy hosted this seminar as "Soft power is the promising field for cooperation of Korea and Thailand, and will drive to develop the relationship of both countries." H.E. Mr. Itthiphol also mentioned "The seminar will be the good opportunity for whole attendees especially for Thailand, to learn about the development of the Korean soft power, which gained the great success in the world."





Cultural professionals on both countries participate this seminar, which will culminate in a demonstration on Korea's and Thailand's soft power, as well as dialogues about cooperation in the music, film, and fashion industries of both countries. First, Mr. Cho Jae-il, Director of The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, presents about the 'Current Status of Soft Power in Korea,' followed by Miss WansiriMorakul, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, on 'Soft Power Policy in Thailand.' Has included is Kamon Chulalongkorn University's Korean Language Professor's 'Analysis on Success Factors of Soft Power in Korea.’








For the music industry, Shin Yeon-ah, known as the leader of K-pop vocal group 'Big Mama,' and the dean of Howon University's K-Pop department, and Professor Kevin Yun from the same university will hold discussions for the two countries cooperation, with Dr. Nalin Petchin, Ph.D Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication and Chair of Entertainment Business and Music Faculty of Music Silpakorn University. Next, movie experts such as director Na, Hong Jin and Banjong of ThaiKorean film 'Rang Zong', talk about cooperation and development for the movie industry of both countries. Lastly, BLACK PINK’s traditional Korean dress ‘Hanbok’ designer Danha Kim will discuss fashion industry focusing on the globalization way of the traditional costumes, along with Mrs. ChadapornChanpan Lecturer of Textile and Fashion Design Faculty of Textile Industry Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep.












Recently, KoreanThai collaborated contents including Lisa's 'Lalisa' and the film 'Rang Zong', has increased and both countries have big interest in the cultural exchange. On 21st April this year, PM Prayut met H.E.Mr. Moon and suggest strengthening the soft power cooperation of both countries.
