Thanks to Squid Game, BTS, and Parasite, the popularity of Korean popular culture in the west continuous to rise. However how was this made possible?
On Wednesday, February 22 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Prof. HONG Seok-Kyeong (Seoul National University) will discuss in a special lecture called 'The Korean Wave(Hallyu): Beyond Market and State' how Korean popular culture was able to transcend Asia and become part of global popular culture. She will specifically focus on on the historical context and development of Korean popular culture and the Korean Wave(Hallyu).
Organized in collaboration between the Korean Cultural Center of Brussels with the Center for Korean Studies of KU Leuven, this lecture will be held at the MSI1 building (Erasmusplein 2, 3000 Leuven), class number 01.12 and is open for everyone to attend.
A lecture not to be missed for those wanting to know more about the origin and evolution of Hallyu.
