To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the US-Korea Alliance, the "Harmony for the Future" concert was hosted by the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles and The Music Center. Held on August 11th at The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, the event celebrated 70 years since the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States in 1953. The concert aimed to strengthen the enduring alliance between the two nations across various domains.
The event featured globally acclaimed soprano Sumi Jo, who enthralled Los Angeles audiences with a captivating selection of operas and Korean songs, showcasing cherished musical pieces. The concert also highlighted artists from diverse genres, such as principal dancers from the American Ballet Theatre, underscoring the international resonance of Korean culture. Pansori maestro Gi Cheol Wang and The National High School of Korean Traditional Arts’ team showcased the richness of Korean traditional music and dance.
Soprano Sumi Jo conveyed her enthusiasm for the performance, aiming to share the vibrancy of K-culture with the world as a beacon of hope amid the challenges posed by COVID-19. The collaborative effort between the Korean Cultural Center and The Music Center successfully celebrated Korean excellence while deepening the cultural bonds and alliance between the US and Korea. The concert, which brought together distinguished Korean artists, was offered as a free event, commemorating this significant anniversary.
