The 2023 K-Pop Festival Concludes Amidst Cheers from the Audience
On August 19th, the K-Pop Festival event hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil (Director Kim Cheol-Hong) came to a close amidst enthusiastic cheers from the many attendees.
This year's K-Pop Festival, held at Cel. Fernando Prestes Square, saw participants from various regions of Brazil showcasing their K-Pop cover dance skills.
As a key part of the "16th Korean Culture Day," the K-Pop Festival featured performances by the 10 teams that passed the preliminary rounds, a congratulatory performance by the previous year's champion team, PHK, and a special stage by the Cultural Center's dedicated cover dance team, Kc Girls. The event attracted 30,000 visitors on the day, making it a significant platform for promoting K-Pop.
The participants from the Curitiba region, Utopia, secured the first place with outstanding performances, while the Sao Paulo participants, Chimera, took second place, and the Campinas participants, Grrrrll, claimed the third spot, celebrating their achievements.
The fact that all the winners of this event were women garnered attention within the community, and there was a noticeable increase in participation from a younger age group, with contestants in their late twenties and early twenties compared to the previous year.
Director Kim Cheol-hong expressed his admiration for the participants' skills and the enthusiasm of the audience, saying, "I'm grateful to the participants who showcased their talents and to the audience for their cheers. We plan to communicate with the audience in a new way for next year's K-Pop Festival."
