Davao choir wins 3rd at SoKor singing tilt

THE third batch of Davao City-based singing group Voices of the South Children’s Choir (VSCC) successfully took home the 3rd place in the youth category of the Busan Choral Festival and Competition 2023 in South Korea.

The competition is an annual event that gathers several groups from different countries showcasing their singing talents. For this year, VSCC was among the 54 singing groups that participated in the Korea Choral Institute-led tilt that ran from October 17 to 21.

Prof. Peter Ian Buaya, the man behind the choral group composed of 42 members who are children and teenagers from various schools in the city, shared that he organized VSCC in 2013 after getting an invitation for a summer voice workshop.

Buaya, who owns the Peter Ian Music And Events Services (PIMES), is not new to mentoring young voice talents since he used to be the conductor of the University of Mindanao Chorale. This is also not the first time that Buaya produced winners both in domestic and international singing competitions.
