On the 28th, the Cultural Center held a lecture concert at the National Gugak Center [The Transmission of 'Asian Royal Court Music and dance]. On this day, the Hanmadang room(Multi-purpose room) was filled with about 200 audience members, including officials from the Thai Ministry of Culture.
For the first performance, member Lee Yun-jeong performed 'Chunaengjeon', a court dance depicting an oriole singing on a willow branch on a spring day.
Next, members Kim Byeong-oh and Lee Jong-mu performed ‘Jukjisa’ along with playing the flute. Jukjisa is a song enjoyed by the upper class whose main lyrics are about beautiful scenery, a leisurely life, and Buddhist content.
Kim Jin-woo performed 'Cheoyongmu', the only one danced wearing a mask in the royal palace, along with Kim Byeong-o and Kwon Deok-yeon's Jongmyo Jeryeak 'Botaepyeong Heemun and Gi-myeong'
Lee Jong-mu had a solo performance called 'Yeonggwan' on Taepyeongso and members Kwon Deok-yeon and Kim Jin-woo performed 'Ilmu'. The audience applauded loudly at the end of each performance.
After the performance, there was a time for Korean food, and the audience expressed their thoughts such as ‘I was glad to hear Korean court music’, 'Every performances were amazing’, and ‘The royal costumes used for the performances were very beautiful’.
In addition, before the start of the performance, Jo Jae-il the Director of the Korean Cultural Center, Kim Gyeong-yeol Defense Attaché, Kim Myeong-seok the director of the Korean Music Research Center of the National Gugak Center, Pricha Korean War veteran, and Lee Hyeong-bae the Veterans Association President presented scholarships to 30 descendants of the Korean War veterans.
