Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles (Director Sangwon Jung) hosted the "2023 Holiday Korean Spirits” at the Zipper Concert Hall in downtown LA on Thursday, November 30th at 7:00 PM.

The event provided an opportunity to see performances by traditional Korean performing arts groups in one place, consistently promoting Korea's traditional arts in Southern California. Following last year's success, last year's event took place at the Zipper Concert Hall in downtown, allowing for a larger audience.

The performance featured various traditional music and dance, including the presentation of "Taryeong," a piece from the Korean traditional royal music ‘Jeongak’. Performances also included ‘fan dance,’ ‘Jindo drum dance,’ Sinawi (performed improvisationally by a Korean traditional musical ensemble), and Seoljanggu dance. Additionally, rare performances such as Geomungo Sanjo, Taepyeongmu, Pansori, JinShae dance, and Gyeonggi Minyo were showcased.

This year's event was directed by Dr. Don Kim and maestro Eung-hwa Kim, experienced figures in the field of traditional arts in the Americas. Artistic groups like Ji’s Kugak School, No Jeong-ae Dance Company, Oulim, the Korean Traditional Dance Institute of California, the Korean Traditional Music Institute of America, Our Voice, along with the dancer Bora Han and Geomungo player Jeong-eun Kim, participated.
