K-Art participates in South Asia’s largest Art Fair


Korean Cultural Centre India participates in the Institutions section of the India Art Fair 2024

The works of Korea’s representative media artist Lee Lee Nam(Cartoon Folding on Screen 1, Chochungdo, Kim Hong Do- Painting of Bamboo) Exhibited 15th India Art Fair, average daily visitors of 40000, the world's largest Art Fair by number of visitors.





K-Art displayed its excellence at the world's largest art fair. Represented by the Korean Cultural Centre India, media artist Lee Lee Nam's works were showcased at the Fair in New Delhi from February 1. The India Art Fair, celebrating its 15th anniversary, attracted 40,000 daily visitors and featured major artists and institutions from around the world.

 

At the K-Art exhibition booth, Lee Lee Nam's works, including "Cartoon Folding on Screen 1," "Chochungdo," and "Kim Hong Do - Painting of Bamboo," blended digital technology with traditional art, critiquing contemporary art dynamics while encapsulating stories from ancient times to the present.

 

Artist Lee Lee Nam expressed gratitude about participating in this India Art Fair, saying, “Thank you for inviting me to this great India Art Fair. I am grateful for allowing me to showcase the media art works that reinterpret world art history, religion, philosophy, and aesthetics whose contents is combining Indian art culture with traditional Korean paintings.”

 

Korean ambassador Chang Jae-bok, who also visited the art fair on Day 1, shared, “India Art Fair is the biggest art fair around the world in terms of visitor’s number and its size. It shows the importance and popularity of art in India and Indian arts in the world. We would like to take this chance to present our latest and world-renowned K-Art, especially Korean media arts on this prestigious platform.”

 

Hwang Il Yong, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India said, “Despite the great interest in Korean culture in India, there is a lack of understanding of Korean artists and Korean art in its art field. We are trying to form a discourse about Korean art through continuous promotion, participation, and exhibitions. The organizers of the Art Fair specifically proposed the participation of Korean art, especially in the media art to us. Through this art fair and K Art’s successful debut stage, we will continue to create an opportunity to promote and introduce the status of K-Art.”
