Events at KCCs abroad

On October 27, 2023, Consul General Euy Whan Kim held an awarding ceremony in commemoration of the 17th World Korean Day at the Consulate General. The National Medal of Merit, Moran Order, and the Presidential Commendation were presented to Kyung B. Yoon, President & CEO of the Korean American Community Foundation (KACF), and to Jesus Love House Mission, directed by Moses Jeon, respectively.

For over 40 years, Ms. Yoon has contributed to alleviating poverty and spreading a culture of philanthropy within the Korean community. Notably, in 2002, she co-founded the KACF, the first and largest charity organization in the Korean American community, and since 2008 she has dedicated her efforts as the foundation’s president. Moreover, Jesus Love House Mission has provided shelters for marginalized members of the Korean community in New York and New Jersey, supporting their reintegration into society and conducting volunteer activities such as funeral services and the repatriation of remains for deceased Koreans without next of kin.

In his congratulatory speech, Consul General Kim thanked the awardees for their exemplary conduct and service, which have served as an inspiration to the local and Korean community. He urged them to continue their efforts toward enhancing the development and welfare of the Korean community. The awardees expressed that their Korean identity and pride in their heritage have been the driving force in their lives within the community, committing to further contribute to the welfare of Koreans and the local community through ongoing volunteer work and community service initiatives.
