Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center in Hungary participated in the 38th Festival of Folk Arts to introduce various aspects of Korean culture. The Hungarian Festival of Folk Arts is Hungary’s largest traditional folk event.


The Festival was held from August 17 to 20 in Budapest, at Buda Castle and the Fisherman’s Bastion. The Korean booth at the festival focused on Korea’s traditional paper culture. Kim Suyeon, a master craftsman, and an educator in the traditional Korean art of Dancheong (Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 31), hosted a game involving traditional Korean paper plaques featuring Dancheong patterns. Other attractions included traditional Korean calligraphy by Moon Changsuk, Jiesung paper weaving by Cho Eun Sil, and Hanji crafts by Jang Seongwoo. Additionally, visitors were treated to traditional dance and music  performances by dancer Han Sang-eun and Geomungo player Byeon Hyeon-je.
