Events at KCCs abroad

On July 3rd, The Korean Cultural Center organized a Korean cultural event and donated educational and living items to the Korean War Veterans Village, Ram Intra.

The Korean Cultural Center offers Korean language classes and Taekwondo classes to the Korean War Veterans Village every Saturday to show our gratitude to Thailand for helping protect Korea’s independence during the Korean War.

Ms. Sunju Lee, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, visited the Korean language classes taught by Coach Choi Hyun-suk and Coach Park Jong-hwa and gave a speech to the students. The students consisted of more than 50 children of Korean War veterans and residents who are interested in Korea. The students expressed their gratitude to the Cultural Center for opening these classes.

The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand also presents a plaque of honor to Sergeant Major Winit Bamrungsalee, the head of the Korean War Veterans Village, who used to work in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Korea in the 1970s. Sergeant Major Winit has been helping the Korean Cultural Center by managing the Little Tiger Building, which has been the place for Korean Class for 13 years since 2011.

After that, the Korean Cultural Center donated Korean handicraft sets and comic books based on the webtoon “One Day, My Beloved Idol Group‘s Leader Disappeared!”, The Webtoon about Korean War Veterans, to the Korean War Veterans Village.

On that day, 42 staff of the United Nations Peace Memorial and Family Supporters volunteers joined the event, performing string quartets and a taekwondo performance. They also prepared cultural activities and stationery sets to donate to the students in the class.
The Korean Cultural Center sincerely hopes that the children of Korean War veterans and students in the various classes could gain knowledge and be ready to be a bridge connecting the relationship between Korea and Thailand.
