Events at KCCs abroad

On September 27, 2024, Consul General Euy Whan Kim held a breakfast meeting in Hartford, Connecticut, with key figures from the World Affairs Council (WAC) of Connecticut, including President Megan Torrey. Consul General Kim emphasized the need for a bill to establish an exclusive employment visa for Koreans (E4) to secure quotas for professional visas. He also expressed his commitment to actively cooperate in WAC’s youth leadership programs.

WAC is a nonprofit organization composed of opinion leaders interested in international relations, diplomacy, and trade, with 86 chapters across the U.S.

Later that day, at 11 a.m., Consul General Kim met with Kerwin Charles, Dean of Yale School of Management, to discuss the necessity of creating an exclusive employment visa (E4) for Koreans so that more Korean international students can stay in the U.S. after graduation and contribute to advancing Korea-U.S. relations. He also expressed his full support for strengthening exchange and cooperation between Yale University and Korean universities.

In addition, Consul General Kim held a meeting with the Korean Studies faculty at Yale to learn about the current status of Korean language courses and the Korean Studies program. He encouraged the faculty and discussed ways to collaborate with the Consulate General to further promote Korean language education and the advancement of Korean studies. Attendees included Professor Hwan Su Kim and Katherine Rupp, Director of the East Asian Studies Department.
