Night of Literature 2025
30 May - 1 June, Debrecen, Downtown
4-6 June, Budapest, Margaret Quarter +
The Night of Literature invites audiences on an extraordinary journey through world literature, featuring actors and actresses reading excerpts from 26 authors representing 26 countries. Over the course of three nights, the readings will take place in unconventional venues unrelated to literature. This year's event centers around the theme of "Safe Space", explored through the selected literary excerpts.
The event is organized by EUNIC Hungary (EU National Institutes for Culture), in cooperation with the representatives of the participating countries, including the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
As part of the Korean program, an excerpt from the best-selling novel Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Boreum will be read by Vivien Edelényi, actress of the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen on 30 May at Libertine Bookshop, and by Lilla Barna, actress of Jurányi Theatre and Füge Production in Budapest on 6 June at Grinta Bike & Café. The novel will be published in Hungarian by Európa Publishing in early June.
The event is free of charge, no registration is required.
