A new exhibition of the Munbangsau Calligraphy Team, honoring the poetry of Yun Dongju, was opened by H.E. Mr. Kyudok Hong, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Hungary on 28 March in the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
Curated by Professor Moon Chang Seok, the exhibition features 14 of Yun Dongju’s poems across 21 scrolls, showcasing Hangul calligraphy. Among the pieces is one of the poet’s most iconic works, "Prologue," from the posthumous poetry collection The Sky, the Wind, the Stars, and the Poem, published in 1948. Another deeply moving poem, "Counting the Stars at Night" is presented in seven parts, each crafted by a different calligrapher. While all works are written in the Classical Palace style, the seven pieces reflect the individual expression and personality of each artist. The exhibition offers visitors the chance to explore three distinct Hangul calligraphy styles through which the calligraphers bring their tribute to Yun Dongju’s poetry to life in a diverse and captivating manner.
The exhibition is free and open to the public until June 27, 2025, on the second floor of the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
