The programme, KCCI's 'SAC on Screen,' kicked off at 2 pm on 9 May with a special screening of The Chunhyang, a creative opera based on the classic Korean story Chunhyangjeon.
This programme was planned to demonstrate the deep-rooted sensibility and aesthetics of Korean performing arts, which have profoundly influenced global phenomena like K-POP and K-dramas. Nearly 80 people attended the screening.
After watching the screening, some of the audience shared their thoughts and opinions. One of them, Madhu, said, 'I was watching it for the first time. It was really good. I was really surprised by the artists' work and acting. I was glad to be a part of this screening.'
Another attendee, Priyanka Bisht, shared her thoughts and feelings after watching the opera, 'The screening was so amazing. We could feel all the emotions portrayed. It was a deeply moving experience.'
Most of the participants were in their 20s to 30s, and the young generation showed great enthusiasm and a positive response to the screening. 'SAC on Screen' will be shown twice a month at the Korean Cultural Centre India, and all seats are free but must be booked in advance.
Following the screening of Chunhyang's Escape, a hanbok experience and photo session was held, offering attendees the chance to try on traditional attire from the late Joseon period, Korea’s pre-modern era.
