The Ambassador of South Korea to Nigeria, Kim Pankyu, affirmed Korea's commitment to supporting Nigeria in achieving food security and boosting bilateral cooperation in trade, security, education, and digital development. Celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations, the countries saw a 38.6% increase in trade in 2024, totaling over $2.2 billion. Korea also supports local employment via companies like Daewoo and Samsung and is partnering with Nigeria in digital education, agriculture (KAFACI, K-Ricebelt), and rural development through the Saemaul Undong model. Ambassador Kim emphasized enhancing opportunities for Nigerian students through the Global Korean Scholarship (GKS), which has already supported 90 graduates. Korea is also exploring migration pathways for skilled Nigerian workers to fill labor shortages.
