The National Gugak Center from Dec. 20-25 will feature Jongmyo Jeryeak, or the royal music played at ancestral rituals during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Such music was played whenever the country had a major event and to pray for stability, peace and prosperity during the Joseon era. In 2001, the music was included on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage and is designated National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 1 by the Korean government.
