In honor of the G20 Seoul Summit held in Korea this year and to share with the world the unique stylings of Korea’s cartoonists, the G20 Leader Caricatures Exhibition will go on the road to Seoul and Bucheon from October 23rd to December 12th. The exhibition, co-hosted by KOMACON (Korea Manhwa Contents Agency) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, will take place at popular tourist destinations such as the COEX Millennium Square, N Seoul Tower Plaza in Seoul, and KOMACON in Bucheon.
Based on the concept of ‘The Korean Tradition,’ everything about the exhibition—from the exhibited items to the way they are displayed—focuses on celebrating the traditional beauty of Korean culture. For example, caricatures are matted onto a scroll (instead of being framed) in order to convey the elegant beauty of Korean traditional wall hangings. The caricatures of the G20 leaders are the work of Cho Won-haeng, who is a leading caricature artist in Korea and a professor at Mokwon University.
