- MCST and VANK to hold launch ceremony of the 2nd cohort of Global Korea Ambassadors on May 23
- Identifying inaccuracies about Korea in global media and content and promoting an accurate image of Korea
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), together with the Voluntary Agency Network of Korea (VANK), a leading civilian diplomacy organization dedicated to promoting Korea, will hold the launch ceremony for
the second cohort of Global Korea Ambassadors on May 23 (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m. on the metaverse platform ZEP.
For the first cohort, the MCST and VANK selected 201 young people aged 16 or older from Korea and abroad and supported their activities to promote Korea from December 2024 to January 2025. For the second cohort, 169 participants have been selected to encourage broader participation in civilian diplomacy activities that promote Korean culture and history worldwide. The launch ceremony will provide guidance on the program’s activities and announce its vision. Over the course of about one month, the ambassadors will identify inaccuracies and incorrect information about Korea across various digital environments, including global media outlets and content platforms, and provide accurate information to international audiences. They will also propose recommendations for accurately introducing Korea abroad.
LEE Eun-bok, Director-General of the Global Public Relations Bureau at the MCST, stated, “As the media landscape continues to diversify, inaccuracies about Korea across various media are also increasing.” He added, “The MCST will work with civilian organizations such as VANK to correct inaccuracies about Korea and enhance the country’s positive image in the international community.”
