Inside Seoul Fortress Wall, a 1-mile trail will be created from Jangchung Gymnasium to Banyan Tree Club & Spa. Of the entire planned trail, the 1,090m section stretching from Janchung Gymnasium, behind the Shilla Hotel and the Seoul Club, and on to the National Unification Advisory Council building (“the council office building”) has completed and opened to the public early January. The 450m trail near Banyan Tree Club & Spa is expected to open at the end of January. The newly created trail will enable the public to enjoy walks on the promenade of the Shilla Hotel with new areas open to the public. The new walking path also connects the Seoul Club and the council office building allowing a pleasant walking trail through the area.

In addition, the existing 1,090m section along the Seoul Fortress Wall has been renovated. Sections have been connected and repaved and bridged in certain spots while stone stairs have been replaced with wooden decks to ensure pedestrian safety. Moreover, the steel stairway eyesore has been replaced with a wooden one to promote harmony between the path and its surroundings. The existing walking trail has been well-preserved for generations to come. Beginning in March, an open-run program will introduce the trail and its benefits to the public through guided tours conducted by conservation and nature experts. Meanwhile, Seoul Metropolitan Government has opened a 100 meter section of path near the north-end of Naksan Mountain, completing over 2km Naksan section of the Seoul Fortress Wall trail.

The Seoul Fortress Wall trail, a 20km path full of history and culture, stretches along Namsan, Inwangsan, Bugaksan and Naksan Mountains. Seoul plans to complete the trail by the year 2012.
