- MOIP launches “AI, Data and IP” webpage for at-a-glance access to IP research information. -

The Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP), led by Minister KIM Yong Sun, announced on April 22, 2026, that it has launched a new webpage that integrates information on artificial intelligence (AI), data and intellectual property (IP). The webpage provides an at-a-glance view of recent domestic and international IP research information in the fields of AI and data.

This initiative aims to provide timely updates on global IP issues related to AI amid recent advances in AI technology, as well as domestic and international research trends so that information can be swiftly reflected in IP policy.

The webpage was established on the official website (www.kiip.re.kr) of the Korea Institute of Intellectual Property (KIIP), an institution that specializes in  research in the field of IP. A banner has been made available on the institute’s main page, making it easily accessible to anyone interested. In addition to KIIP’s own research materials, the site will be regularly updated with recent domestic and international research information.

The webpage is divided into four main sections: 1) “AI Technology and Patent Trends,” which provides materials on new AI technologies and patent information; 2) “AI and IP Policies and Systems,” which provides trends in IP policies and systems following the advancement of AI; 3) “Data and IP,” which offers information on data protection and dispute trends that are crucial in the AI era, including issues related to AI training data; and 4) “AI-generated Works and IP,” which presents research information concerning the ownership of rights and liability issues involving inventions and creative works utilizing AI.

Director General Kim Il Gyu of the Intellectual Property Policy Bureau at MOIP stated, “We hope the ‘AI, Data and Intellectual Property’ webpage will facilitate the rapid sharing of global issues and research trends related to AI, data and IP, which will eventually contribute to IP policymaking and institutional improvements as Korea seeks to leap forward as an AI powerhouse.
