Haeundae, Songjeong, Gwangalli, and Songdo beaches will be open from June 1st through September 10th. Three other beaches―Ilgwang, Imrang, and Dadaepo―will be open for swimming from July 1st through August 31st.
Busan City is working on final arrangements for the official opening of the beaches, improving facilities like public restrooms, showers and changing rooms, as well as assuring the safety of swimmers and beach visitors.
Cultural and art performances and various other programs around the beaches will attract more people.
The Haeundae Sand Festival will be held June 7-10 at Haeundae Beach. A variety of cultural performances and a dance festival are scheduled. For the safety of swimmers, nets will be installed in the sea to block jellyfish and an offshore current emergency response team will be on duty as well.
At Gwangalli Beach, 60 reed parasols will be installed and a sand bathing area will open in July. You can also enjoy street performances, shell collecting events and an art market.
A campsite and beach sports zone will be operated at Songjeong Beach.
Songdo Beach, the first designated swimming beach in Korea, is marking its 100th anniversary this year. To celebrate, various performances and beach events are scheduled. Sea diving boards will open to the public in July.
The Busan Fire Department will be working hard to keep visitors safe by deploying 119 emergency rescue teams with rescue equipment at all the beaches. The South Regional Headquarters of the Korea Coast Guard will also deploy 108 police for beach security.
