The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister Kang Jung-ai) announced that Lieutenant Colonel Jang Se-pung of the Republic of Korea Army (then captain), who halted the enemy’s advance by directly targeting and destroying a T-34 tank with a 105mm howitzer in the Battle of Uijeongbu District (now Jaeil-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do) in June 1950, has been selected as the ‘June 2024 Korean War Hero of the Month.’
