The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister Kang Jung-ai) has announced the selection of Republic of Korea Army First Lieutenant Choi Byung-ik (posthumously promoted from Second Lieutenant) as the "September 2024 Korean War Hero" in recognition of his selfless actions during the defense of Hill 705 in Seohwa-myeon, Inje County, Gangwon Province, during the Korean War.
