Motor vehicle recalls conducted on the Labo and Damas of GM Korea
-Total 1,846 units recalled owning to defects found in steering systems-
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea announced that it will conduct recalls on the Damas and Labo models manufactured by GM Korea as they were found to have faults at their steering systems.
The Damas and Labo cars assembled between May 1 and June 6 this year (1,129 Damas cars and 717 Labo cars) have been found to have steering system defects where abrasion of gear could cause the car to defy complete command of the driver.
Owners of the said cars are advised to receive repair services at GM Korea's service centers from December 16, 2013. Once the car is confirmed to be eligible for the recall, the shaft at the bottom of the steering column will be replaced with an improved one.
If the vehicle owner had repaired the said parts with the costs of his or her own before this recall was conducted, they may request GM Korea to reimburse their bills.
With respect to this recall, GM Korea is obliged to notify all the affected vehicle owners via the post on this matter, and any further inquiries or requests can be answered at GM Korea's call center (080-3000-5000).
