Recall for Chrysler, Peugeot and Citroen cars

- A total of 798 vehicles being recalled Including 231 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs, the Peugeot 308 and Citroen vehicles-

☐ As some defects were found in cars that had been imported and sold by FCA Korea and Hanbul Motors, Minister Yu Il Ho of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issued a corrective measure to the two companies to conduct a voluntary recall.

☐ The corrective measure was issued as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, imported by FCA Korea, has the possibility of its airbag system's dysfunction during a crash due to defects in internal component of the Air-Bag Electronic Control Unit.

* Air-Bag Electronic Control Unit is a controlling device that detects the level of shock with its sensors and decides whether each air bag should be deployed.

ㅇ A total of 231 Vehicles made between March 27, 2013, and Jan. 13, 2014, are subject to the recall. So the owners can request a new airbag electronic control unit free of charge at FCA Korea service centers, starting from May 15, 2015.

☐ Four models imported by Hanbul Motors, including the Peugeot 308 and Citroen Picasso, are also being recalled due to the possibility of captive bolts of lower arm being damaged in the suspension system of the front wheels, which may impede steering and cause noise.

* The suspension system: the system is installed inside a vehicle to minimize the shock from the road to vehicle occupants. It is comprised of springs, shock absorbers, lower arms, etc.

ㅇ The vehicles subject to the recall include Peugeot 308s made between Jan. 15 and Nov. 13, 2014, Peugeot 308SWs made between April 22 and Nov. 26, 2014, Citroen Grand C4 Picassos made between Nov. 12, 2013 and Nov. 14, 2014, and Citroen C4 Picassos manufactured between July 7 and Oct. 13 of last year. The recall service is available at Hanbul Motors service centers free of charge.

☐ The manufacturers will send e-mails to the owners about the recall service. The owners who already repaired the car at their own expense can request repair cost from the manufacturers.
