•First ever Korean-style street sign installed in Mongolia, a significant step towards expanding the use of “K-Address”
•Meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the Minister of Mongolia and Chief Cabinet Secretariat to discuss the introduction of K-Address and support for the establishment of digital government
•Singing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the establishment of digital government
Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min will visit Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from September 22 to 24 to promote the Korean address system and help establish Mongolia’s digital platform government.
In May, Deputy Minister of the Interior and Safety, Kim Min Jae and Director General of Mongolia’s General Agency for Land Administration and Management, Geodesy and Cartography, Enkhmanlai Anand met in Seoul to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the modernization of Mongolia’s address system and to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Minister Lee Sang-min’s visit aims to develop a future-proof relationship between the two countries through cooperation on the addressing system by the MOU and to provide a bridgehead for the expansion of K-Address to other Central Asian countries. Discussions will focus on collaboration in public administration, including establishing Mongolia’s digital government and technical cooperation.
Minister Lee will first meet with the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Luvsannansrai Oyun-Erdene, to discuss the modernization of Mongolia’s address system and collaboration in establishing a digital government. The meeting’s main agenda includes setting the direction for bilateral governmental cooperation, outlining a cooperation plan for the address system modernization projects and digital government establishment, and discussing cooperation in public administration such as Saemaul Undong. To move forward with the discussions in a phased manner, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to develop a “Roadmap for the Modernization of Mongolia’s Address System Based on K-Address” and support the smooth implementation of Mongolia’s address system modernization project.
Moreover, Minister Lee will attend the unveiling ceremony of a Korean-style street sign, “SEOUL street,” in Ulaanbaatar to announce the expansion of K-Address abroad. The sign, the first of its kind to be installed overseas, is an essential starting point for the globalization of K-Address.
