- KDCA releases both Korean and English versions of the Standards for the National Reference Laboratory for Infectious Diseases and the Criteria for Accreditation of National Reference Laboratories for Infectious Diseases.
- These standards are customized for public-sector infectious disease laboratories in line with international standards, laying the groundwork for Korea’s model to serve as a global standard.
Osong, 24 June 2025 – The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has published the Korean and English versions of two key documents: the Standards for the National Reference Laboratory for Infectious Diseases and the Criteria for Accreditation of National Reference Laboratories for Infectious Diseases. These documents, now available on KDCA’s official website mark a significant milestone in Korea’s efforts to promote its standards for infectious diseases laboratories nationwide.
Since launching the Accreditation Framework for National Infectious Disease Reference Laboratories in 2019, KDCA has designated laboratories that objectively demonstrate their laboratory capabilities as National Reference Laboratories for Infectious Diseases.
These laboratories’ capabilities in operating a standardized framework played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic in enabling rapid deployment of standardized diagnostic testing methods for an effective emergency response.
