The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan) held a "Meeting with Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education for the Revitalization of Integrity Education," attended by auditors from 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide today to establish a cooperative system to spread a culture of integrity at educational sites.

This meeting was prepared to explore ways to strengthen integrity education in frontline educational settings, recognizing that promoting the integrity awareness of future generations is key to improving national integrity.

At this meeting, the ACRC presented three key initiatives and discussed them with the attendees: Plans to promote the strengthening of integrity education in elementary, middle, and high school curricula, ways to utilize integrity education programs to internalize integrity values, and enhanced collaboration between the ACRC and offices of education and educational institutions.

Specifically, the ACRC presented plans to expand the reflection of anti-corruption and integrity-related content in elementary, middle, and high school textbooks and to include integrity terms in the names of ethics and moral education subjects.

In addition, the ACRC plans to introduce the contents related to experiential integrity education programs, such as "Outreach Classrooms for Integrity Experience" and "Elementary School Student Integrity Camps," which can spark students’interest, to the metropolitan and provincial offices of education so that students can actively learn about them.

Furthermore, plans to introduce regular integrity courses and develop customized integrity education programs for university students, through collaboration with major universities, such as Cheongju National University of Education and Hoseo University, will be shared, and the ACRC plans to request the establishment of a cooperative system and active support through MOUs, etc., with 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide.

Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan of the ACRC stated, "The metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide are the starting point and central pillar for the spread of integrity education," and requested active participation and cooperation from the offices of education, saying, "Please pool your wisdom and experience to ensure that integrity education takes firm root in school settings."
