A forthcoming exhibition in Belgium will display Korean artifacts.

The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Belgium on March 28 said its exhibition will feature Korean artifacts from the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) that have been kept and restored by the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels.

The event is scheduled from March 31 to May 13 at the KCC's exhibition center in Brussels.

Titled "Korean Treasures in Belgium (re)discovered," the exhibition displays Goryeo celadon, bronze kundika (a bowl used for pouring liquids) and folding screens.

Since 2019, the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation and National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage have pursued a project to restore Korean artifacts stored at the Belgian museum to commemorate the 120th anniversary of bilateral ties, which was last year. Eight craftworks with completed restoration were publicly displayed in Korea for around a month last year from September to October before being shipped to Belgium.

Also to be displayed are bilateral diplomatic documents dating back from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Visitors can see the early history of ties between Korea and Belgium that led up to their conclusion of a bilateral treaty in 1901.

Admission is free.
