The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 19 said it is hosting through May 24 Ieum Artport, an art market for the works of disabled artists, in cooperation with the Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center at Modu Art Space in Seoul's Jung-gu District.

This program aims to stimulate the priority purchase system for works by such artists and support the latter's entry into the distribution market for culture and arts.

The market displays 100 works by 50 disabled artists and provides customized data on each piece to organizations required to make priority purchases to boost such sales.

Apart from the market, a publicity hall will provide a support system for the artists with information like that on the priority purchase system for their works; Ieum Art Platform, an online venue to help the distribution of the pieces; and an art activity certification system. Legal consultations on copyright issues will be also offered.

"Since last year, the ministry has backed the expansion of market channels for disabled artists both online and offline, including the launch of Ieum Art Platform to spread awareness of the priority purchase system for works by such artists," a ministry policy official said. "We will continue to do our best to ensure stable operation of the system."
