RM of K-pop sensation BTS will promote Korean history and traditional culture to the world.

The National Museum of Korea on June 20 announced its appointment of the group's leader as a global ambassador for the museum.

The museum said this appointment "seeks to widely promote the value of our cultural heritage with world-renowned artist RM and elevate the museum's international standing."

At the appointment ceremony the previous day, museum director You Hong June presented RM with the special edition of the Daedongyeojido (Map of the Great East) Scroll, a miniature replica of the original Daedongyeojido from the museum's collection.

"I'm very pleased to be appointed a global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea," RM said. "I'll do my part to help convey the beauty and value of our cultural heritage to more people."
