Busan from July 19 will transform into a national heritage venue for people from around the globe to mark the hosting of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in the nation's second-largest city.

The Korea Heritage Service on July 7 said it will run from July 20-29 the K-Heritage House, a pavilion showcasing the country's World Heritage sites, as well as exhibitions and hand-on activities at the convention center BEXCO and diverse events across the city.

Thirty-five organizations will take part in the section, which will display 45 exhibits and interactive experiences, the country's 17 World Heritage sites and Memory of the World documentary heritage, and performances and demonstrations of Korea's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The pavilion will also feature Korea's past, present and future heritage in a multi-dimensional manner through the use of cutting-edge digital technology like augmented reality.

Side events across the city include the Busan Travel Movie Festival under the theme "World Heritage into Cinema" from July 18-19 at Busan Cinema Center, featuring World Heritage sites appearing in films. Shinsegae Department Store's Centum City branch from July 16-22 will operate the pop-up store Hanbok On-the-Go: Busan.

Busan Museum until Aug. 30 is hosting the exhibition "Timeless Legacy: Records and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty," an in-depth look at the historical significance of the nation's documentary culture through the display of Korea's UNESCO Memory of the World listings and royal heritage.

"2026 Busan Wartime Capital Heritage Night," a guided evening walking tour of Sites of the Busan Wartime Capital, a tentative candidate for UNESCO World Heritage inscription, is slated for July 24-25 at Yurari Plaza around Yeongdo Bridge.

The side events' schedule and programs are on the session's official website (www.48whcbusan2026.kr).
