Six of the top 10 artists in concert tour revenue in Asia over the past year were K-pop acts.
Pollstar, a U.S. live entertainment trade publication, said in its chart Asia Focus Top Touring Artists that the boy band SEVENTEEN ranked first with tour revenue of USD 97.39 million and sales of 661,088 tickets.
The chart covers revenue earned from tours in Asia from Aug. 1 last year to July 31 this year.
Launching its global tour "New_" in September last year, SEVENTEEN set ablaze major stadiums across Asia including in Incheon, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Thailand, and Bulacan, the Philippines. The group was the first K-pop act to sell out all four shows at Kai Tak Stadium, Hong Kong's largest venue.
Among its 22 shows on the continent, it performed at Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan.
TWICE ranked second on the list, Tomorrow X Together (TXT) third, BTS fourth, BLACKPINK eighth and ENHYPEN ninth, demonstrating K-pop's explosive popularity in the region.
