Busan is ramping up transportation, safety and tourism convenience for international fans visiting the country's No. 2 city for two concerts by K-pop sensation BTS.
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on June 4 announced its launch of tourism services and marketing support in conjunction with the Busan concerts slated for June 12-13, and the accompanying event "BTS the City Arirang - Busan." This is to encourage foreign visitors to explore not only Busan but also nearby destinations.
Throughout June, the KTO will collaborate with online platforms and the travel industry to aggressively promote tourism content related to Busan and vicinity.
In partnership with Naver Map's "Be Local" campaign, the agency will introduce 10 major tourist attractions in Busan. Global travel platforms such as Klook, Kkday and Nol Universe will offer promotional packages of travel products featuring the region.
Another collaboration with Hanatour ITC will expand BTS-related tours, which are primarily focused on Seoul and Pyeongchang-gun County, Gangwon-do Province, to Busan.
Other services will seek to raise travel convenience for overseas fans. A new Busan tourism page on the Visit Korea website and app offers one-stop information on tourism, transportation and safety. Practical tips like entry procedures and payment methods will also be shared through the KTO's social media channels abroad.
Gimhae International Airport will set up an information booth, while the interpretation service Korea Travel Helpline 1330 will operate an inquiry system for the concert to assist foreign visitors.
The Eurasia Platform Welcome Center at Busan Station through June 21 will provide tourism information and content on the region. Over the concert period, another tourism promotion center will be near Busan Asiad Main Stadium in the city's Yeonje-gu District.
The municipal government on June 5 also launched a comprehensive online information platform ahead of the concert featuring administrative data and tourism content.
The city's official website has information to protect public safety and health, including details on the concerts, locations of emergency hospitals and pharmacies, transportation updates and the Tourist Complaint Center.
The Visit Busan site also features recommended travel itineraries, information on events by theme and downloadable digital brochures on tourism and dining.
