The latest version of the cookbook "Healthy Table for Our Body" features healthier and tastier fusion Hansik (traditional cuisine).
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on July 14 said the publication seeks to encourage healthier eating habits by promoting foods containing less sodium and sugar.
This edition includes recipes for 10 award-winning entries of fusion Hansik health dishes at last year's Samsamhan Cooking Competition, reflecting the global popularity of Korean food and rising interest in culinary cultures.
The latest edition of "Healthy Table for Our Body" has recipe cards in English and Chinese.
Recipe cards in English and Chinese are also included.
The cookbook will be distributed to 902 public health centers, universities and multicultural family centers nationwide. An online edition is also available free on the Food Safety Korea's website.
To mark the new edition, the ministry through Aug. 21 is holding the Healthy K-Fusion Recipe Challenge in which contestants can post photos or videos of themselves preparing dishes from the book's recipes on their personal social media accounts.
More information on the event is on the official Instagram account of Minasu, the ministry's campaign to reduce sodium and sugar consumption (https://www.instagram.com/minasu_mfds/).
Minister Oh Yu-Kyoung said, "We will keep promoting low-calorie menu options for people to enjoy in their daily lives in line with growing global interest in Korean food and increasing culinary cultural exchanges both at home and abroad."
