Korea.net contains all kinds of content on Korea from news and events to articles on Korean culture, cuisine and tourism. Honorary Reporters, comprising people all over the world interested in Korea, write articles related to the country and everything about it. This article has two members describing their experiences and how they quickly became friends through the program.

Alexia Hurtado
My experience in this program began in 2021 and I have since developed an immense passion for spreading news, travel information, events and even my own experience in Korean culture through articles and videos.

The program's Facebook group was helpful, too. I was lost with the platform since everything was new to me. I had questions while writing articles, and whenever I faced a problem I couldn't solve, I asked for help on the group's page. I met my friend and fellow Honorary Reporter Iran Tavera Martinez through this community as she answered my questions and kindly offered assistance through both text and video call. She also explained about the platform to someone whom she had just met -- me -- including how to upload photos and tips for posting an article. She and I have since been good friends.

Alexia Hurtado joined the Honorary Reporter program in 2020.

Iran Tavera Martinez
My experience began in 2020 after seeing an Instagram post on spreading Korean culture through the Honorary Reporter program. In my first year, I experimented with writing articles on a range of topics, mostly those on Korean history but later expanding my topics to my experiences with anything related to the Korean Peninsula. Fellow Honorary Reporters gave me tips on uploading articles on the platform.

Throughout my time in the program, I have formed great friendships with colleagues from my country and abroad, especially Alexia Hurtado, whom I befriended through social media. She lives in Merida while I reside in Mexico City, but we share advice and tips on what to post on Korea.net. We've also discovered that we have similar interests in addition to Korea.

Iran Tavera Martinez has written quite a few articles as an Honorary Reporter

Joining the program offers the pleasure of sharing and communicating interest in Korea through a worldwide likeminded community. This opportunity allows participants to learn and have a unique experience meeting people from all over the world while making friends and sharing knowledge on Korea.

To join this global family, keep an eye out in March for the recruiting notice. Dare to explore new experiences this year by being an Honorary Reporter.

Honorary Reporters and friends Alexia Hurtado and Iran Tavera Martinez met through the program and spent time in the Koreatown of Mexico City.
