The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Vietnam, on March 22 hosted the 2025 Korean Literature Drama Competition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Vietnam National University in Hanoi. At the event, Vietnamese students performed Korean literary works.


Following the success of the 2022 contest in Ho Chi Minh City, students from 10 Vietnamese universities participated in the event.

KCC Director Choi Seung Jin in an opening speech emphasized literature's power to bridge cultural gaps. "Transcending time and boundaries, literature possesses the immense power to connect human souls," he said. "Through theatrical performance, literary works gain new life, allowing us to better understand their empathy and messages."

Ten university teams presented 15-minute theatrical adaptations of leading Korean literary works. The judging criteria included team cohesion, message delivery, creative interpretation and overall presentation. 


The performances included interpretations of works such as "Dangun Story," based on the myth of Korea's founding; "Please Look After Mom," inspired the international bestselling novel by Shin Kyung-sook; and "Inconvenient Convenience Store," a bestseller in Korea by Kim Ho-yeon.


The competition concluded with the team from Thang Long University claiming first prize for its interpretation of "Please Look After Mom." The judging panel also awarded one second, two third and six consolation prizes.
