Athletes on Feb. 21 compete at an inaugural national taekwondo competition for middle and high school students to mark the February 28 Democracy Movement (also known as the Daegu Democracy Movement) at Daegu Gym in Daegu's Buk-gu District. To end on Feb. 27, the event will see 1,000 competitors from 150 middle and high schools nationwide. The movement in 1960 was led by high school students in Daegu against the authoritarian rule at the time.
