Yongwangjae, or the local Dragon King Ritual, is held on July 13 at Mangsang Beach in Donghae, Gangwon-do Province, to pray for the safety of residents and tourists in summer, as all beaches in the province were opened that day. With the ritual signaling the official opening of seaside fun, the city government will run six beaches for 40 days until Aug. 21.
