Choi Kyung-sik, mayor of Namwon, Jeollabuk-do Province, on March 21 speaks at a presentation on the 94th Namwon Chunhyang Festival, which he says will transform from an event on the nation's traditional culture into a "global K-festival," at the Korea Press Center in Seoul's Jung-gu District. Performing a skit while clad as the villainous magistrate Byeon Hak-do from the novel "Chunhyangjeon" (The Tale of Chunhyang), he said, "Nearing its centennial anniversary, the festival is itself a symbol of Namwon and an asset to be passed down from generation to generation."
