Two days before the traditional holiday Dano (Spring Festival), which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, visitors on May 29 wash their hair in water boiled with changpo (sweet iris) at a facility of the National Folk Museum of Korea in Seoul's Jongno-gu District. In the past, Koreans believed that this practice done on Dano prevented their hair from graying and had the power to repel evil spirits.
