Korea.net in the second week of this month received interesting on-site reports from the U.K., Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Such news offers interesting non-contact experiences attracting attention from readers around the world who cannot attend the events in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Moon Jae-in on Nov. 1 attended and gave a keynote address at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. 


Honorary Reporter Marianna Szucs from Hungary, who is a resident of the U.K., interviewed students at her school on their opinions of the president's speech. The comments included "I respect President Moon because he cares about us, the future generation" and "I trust him as he really works for change."

The article also conveyed the positive responses of future generations abroad to the Korean government's Green New Deal.

How to make kimchi: special event for foreigners in Korea (Anabel Martin Gutierrez from Spain)


The global spread of Hallyu has made kimjang (traditional process and culture of making kimchi) an event for not only Koreans but for people around the world.

In the days leading to the kimchi-making season, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs from Nov. 6-15 held a kimjang program for foreign residents of Korea in six regions. Honorary Reporter Anabel Martin Gutierrez from Spain attended the event, where she made kimchi and wrote about the atmosphere there and what she learned. She said anyone around the world can make kimchi with the right ingredients, encouraging Korea.net readers to try kimjang

Korea at Expo Dubai: showcase of tech power (Khaled El-shami from Egypt in Arabic)


Expo 2020 in Dubai, UAE, the first world's fair in the Middle East and the Olympics of the global economy, began last month. Khaled El-shami from Egypt in person reported on the event's Korea Pavilion, saying the pavilion's theme was mobility featuring "hyper-connection" based on the virtual world rather than being confined to physical mobility via transportation methods. The article described the cultural experience booths, Korean food corners and the art of 3D interface structures at the pavilion.
