Behind the work of Korea.net's Honorary Reporters in nine languages are staff writers who actively communicate with the reporters. Honorary Reporters recently interviewed such staff on their experiences with the program.

Honorary Reporter Eftychia Dovletoglou from Greece interviewed Kim Eunhee and Hong Kilju, Korea.net's two Honorary Reporter coordinators in charge of handling the program's English-language content. Kim said that through her work, she was amazed to discover how many abroad genuinely love Korea and that this is the greatest source of motivation for her job. Hong said the program's goal is to promote Korea and strengthen networks between Korea and other countries.

Park Hye Ri, Korea.net's Vietnamese-language staff writer who also coordinates content written by Honorary Reporters from Vietnam, shared in an interview how she joined the agency and memorable moments throughout her years there, saying, "I remember every interaction with Honorary Reporters, who have a special interest in Korea." On her New Year's wishes, she said, "I hope Korea.net's Vietnamese-language section becomes more known among Vietnamese and that Korean culture spreads more widely in Vietnam as a result." 

Honorary Reporters from Vietnam said they were happy to hear stories from Park, whom they said they did not know, through the interview.

■ [Behind the scenes at Korea.net] Meet French-language editor Jung Joo-ri (Adriana Rabe from France in French)

Jung Joo-ri, Korea.net's French-language staff writer and Honorary Reporter editor, called the Honorary Reporter induction ceremony her fondest memory of her job last year. 

"Though the event was held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a great opportunity to meet people around the world who love Korean culture," she said. "I am often amazed by the profound understanding of and interest in Korean culture by Honorary Reporters when reading their articles."

"I can directly feel that global interest in Korea is rising."

Korea.net also employs foreign nationals at its office, including Aisylu Akhmetzianova for the Russian-language section. Joining the company last month, she is from Tatarstan, a republic in Russia, and majored in Korean as an undergraduate and classic Korean literature in graduate school. 

"I'm glad to be working for Korea.net, which promotes Korea to the world," she said. "To more deeply understand the Korea that we know today, we must study its history first."
