The Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency (KHOA) under the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has released an atlas of Korean national seas. It is a comprehensive and systematic collection of information on Korean maritime territories, the natural environment, and socioeconomics.

The atlas is the first comprehensive record at a government level about Korean seas.

The KHOA produced the atlas by collecting, organizing and analyzing data on Korean seas from experts in each field from the government, public institutions and marine academics.

The atlas divides the results of marine research conducted until now on Korean seas and relevant data into four categories -- marine space, nature, society and history. It covers these categories comprehensively.

The KHOA will gradually distribute the atlas to 550 organizations including ministries, libraries and public and educational institutions.
